Just as the preacher said in the Holy Book, there is a time for everything. Now, my time here is over. It was on a Monday, 18th November 2019, just fresh out of Uni, I began a journey I never knew would end this way and create a career part I love.

Indeed, that was just the beginning!

Over the past 2 years and 7 months today, I know fully well that with the help of God and amazing team members, we did the following:

  1. Worked with the team on pivoting to delivery services after the bike-hailing ban in Lagos state.
  2. Part of the team that Increased the number of riders from 0 to about 1000+ riders.
  3. Worked on the Tookan application for Gsend (Now deprecated)
  4. Worked on the Yelo application for Gfood (Now deprecated)
  5. Worked on the v3 apis that was launched June 1st 2021.
  6. Worked on automating the tech test cases on the driver v3 application and customer v4 applications as well as the admin dashboard.
  7. Worked on the public apis and the woocommerce endpoints.
  8. Worked on the v4 beta release.
  9. Worked briefly on the Gops dashboard.
welcome message to the tech team

I am stepping out knowing fully well that I was part of the G’s who did not relent and coward in even after lots of obstacles to creating valuable products for our users. The past 2 years and 7 months have been a massive turnaround in my career.

There is no way I would write about our time together without a few tears in my eyes but I know we would reach heights we never thought possible personally. I appreciate ALL OF GOKADA TECH TEAM WHO AMONGST THEM HAVE BECOME FRIENDS AND BROTHERS.

I must also appreciate

  1. Jibreel for giving me the call for the job.
  2. Nikhil who always challenged me to be better than my previous self who always wanted me to know that doing your best and leaving the rest is never enough. More importantly, for leading the team to pivoting to delivery after the bike-hailing ban in Lagos.
  3. Dika for always showing up as a good and kind boss even on our lowest days. I think we all on the tech team must agree that you are doing a great job and majorly showing the type of leader I would like to be.
  4. Ruchit, Araf and Sajjad for their kind words and continuous guidance as I grow in my tech career. For always there to accept my mistakes and correct them. Also, for their motivation after hitting a milestone(I remember when my project was chosen as part of the top 15 at GADS and Sajjad said, yes this is good but always look forward to what is next). Araf for always listening to my rants and for teaching me to always pay attention to even the smallest details. For generally trusting and believing in me and helping me when imposter syndrome wants to overwhelm me.
  5. Solomon though we spent short time working together but his guidance and mentorship I really appreciate and for the reference you provided for me.
  6. Delaney who is always reliable day or night to help fix those bugs and help with lots of things even beyond work related matters.
  7. John for being a dependable ally and colleague for teaching me a lot of technical things.
  8. If I eventually drop out of NYSC, just know that God just wanted me to meet David personally in Abuja and spend some time with him. You have indeed been a blessing to me since we met and I cannot forget how our time together in Abuja inspired me.
  9. Oluwatosin for becoming an elder friend, his help and the coding material you gave me knowing me barely two weeks then.

Special thanks to Oluwatobi Ateniola for giving me the required advice and access to his Udemy account to start learning and open a path to tech for me. Just know your story inspires.

To my friends who I owe in high esteem for their support throughout this time: Tayo, Wale, Lydia(for those kind words, rooting for me), Bisi, Nneka, Enajite, Opeyemi Eniola, Mr A.O. Oyinloye who have now become brothers and for believing in me.

To all my friends outside Gokada thanks for being there for me and to the friends I make outside the tech team at Gokada.

I must thank Mr Oke for always sharing his corporate wide experience with me to learn from every time.

Yeah! Wellll, now to what next? I am moving to the next stop to take up the next challenge to work with a Software company that is into marketing based in Europe. I am excited about this new journey and cannot wait to show what the next years hold by God’s grace.
